The Vermont Department of Education is supporting the Vermont Department of Health in informing Vermont schools about the H1N1 (Swine) influenza. School administrators, staff, parents, students and community members should contact the Vermont Department of Health or visit the federal site for the latest H1N1 guidance. - H1N1 School Dismissal Guidance

This important communication from the Vermont Department of Health (VDH) on H1N1 school dismissal guidance is designed to decrease the spread of influenza among students and staff. This guidance is based on the current level of illness severity (as of September 11, 2009). The VDH will provide weekly updates on flu activity on their Web site. There will be different guidance and recommendations if the severity of illness increases. Schools can obtain information from the Department of Health Web site at healthvermont.gov or by calling the health department at 1 (800) 640-4374 or (802) 863-7240.
- Letter and Forms on School-based Clinics for H1N1 Flu Vaccine

This joint letter from Health Commissioner Wendy Davis and Education Commissioner Armando Vilaseca outlines the state plan for hosting school-based clinics for the H1N1 Flu Vaccine for students. In addition to this important letter, this packet includes the options schools have for voluntarily participating in the clinics, and a form schools are required to fill out and return to the Health Department by September 18, 2009.
