Fall 2008 NECAP Reading, Writing and Mathematics Test Administration Window Information
The administration window for this year’s New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) Reading, Writing and Mathematics tests is October 1-23, 2008. All Vermont students in grades 3 through 8 and 11, including publicly funded students attending private independent schools, should participate unless a student qualifies for alternate assessment or an exemption for medical reasons, family emergency or personal crisis. Surveys of Enacted Curriculum (SEC) Information & Training Opportunities
The SEC are practical, efficient tools for obtaining classroom data about math, science or literacy teaching. Online surveys completed by teachers produce visual maps of instruction that can be compared to the Vermont Grade Expectations. The surveys can also provide instructional data to investigate in relation to NECAP results. Over the course of four professional development days, prospective SEC facilitators will receive the tools necessary to introduce colleagues to the SEC, inform teachers about levels of cognitive complexity, administer the SEC, and explore data-driven dialogue. View additional details, registration information and a conference brochure by clicking the link above.
- SEC Facilitator Toolkit
The following materials are provided to help facilitators develop understanding of the Survey content, levels of cognitive complexity, and data analysis:
- Instructions for Viewing Data

Step-by-step instructions for viewing instructional practice charts, instructional content charts, standards and assessments, and teacher data.
- Survey "How To" Guide
