Act 154. Section 36 Designation of a Public or Elementary School as the Public School of a District; Study
The Legislature has asked the department to provide information to the General Assembly that will allow it to determine whether expanded school designation should be available to all schools.
Act 154. Section 37 Alternative Education Programs; Study
The commissioner of education was asked to conduct a study of alternative methods by which school districts can support secondary students who are in danger of terminating their enrollment prior to graduation.
Act 182. Section 11 An Act Relating to Economic Development and Workforce Development: Adult Technical Education; Workforce Education and Training
This report provides the information requested through ACT 182 Section 11 and offers a number of recommendations in support of Vermont secondary and adult students.
Act 200. Section 8(3) Establishment of a School Energy Grant Program
A pilot School Energy Opportunity Grant Program (SEOG) was established by the 2008 Capital Appropriations Bill (Act 200). In implementing this program, it was the goal of the commissioner of education to identify five or more school districts to receive funding necessary to evaluate and define specific opportunities for cost-effective building retrofits to save energy dollars while improving occupant comfort and health.

Act 154. Section 3 Agricultural, Forestry, and Horticultural Education
Act 154, Section 3 charged the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets (VAAFM) and the Department of Education (DOE) to perform a needs assessment of Agriculture, Forestry and Horticulture (A, F & H) education within Vermont and to make recommendations for existing programs.
Act 192 Relating to Service Planning for High School Graduates with Developmental Disabilities
This document is intended to serve as the Commissioners’ response to the requirements set forth in ACT 192, an act that requires the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) and the Department of Education (DOE) to work collaboratively to improve the transition of graduates with developmental disabilities from high school to adult developmental disabilities services.
Act 203. Section 16 Vermont 2008 Nutrition Guidelines for Competitive Food and Beverage Sales in Schools
Section 16 of Act 203 (2008) charges the Department of Education, Department of Health and Agency of Agriculture to update the current Vermont nutrition policy guidelines applicable to competitive foods and beverages sold outside of the federally reimbursable school nutrition programs. Act 203 calls for a report on the number of school districts that have and have not adopted a policy that is substantially the same as the Vermont nutrition guidelines. This report outlines the progress to date, partners involved, recommendations for preliminary action and next steps.

2009 Report on Act 82 of 2007, Section 8: Weighted Membership (Added 3/30/09)
Section 8 of Act 82 of the Acts of 2007 requires the commissioner to evaluate the accuracy of the weight membership for each school district using the long-term membership and, at the beginning of each biennium, propose to the house and senate committees on education whether the weights should stay the same or be adjusted.
2009 Report on Act 176 of 2006: The High School Completion Program (FY '08)
The High School Completion Program, established by Act 176 as enacted in 2006, has experienced success over its first two years as measured by participation rates, completion rates and its impact on the adult education system and high school partners. The most important beneficiaries of this new program are the students it serves. |
