Act 31 of the 2007 General Assembly required the development of a statewide student attendance calendar to be acted upon by the State Board of Education by January 30, 2008. The intent of the legislation was to direct the calendar committee, consisting of 15 members and chaired by the commissioner of education or his designee, to develop a uniform statewide school calendar to be adopted by the State Board of Education by January 30 of each year and announced no later than March 31 each year.

NOTE: During the 2008 legislative session, a statewide calendar was not adopted.

The committee, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Brian O'Regan, met four times after July 1, 2007.
